“I like to create groups that encourage self- expression and increase social interaction. I want participants to feel special and enjoy themselves. I believe this is one of my strengths as a group facilitator and teacher.”

About me

Kristen Marino: Artist, Therapist, Educator

Being creative has always been a big part of my life. It’s not something I do, but rather who I am. It’s interwoven into my being and how I live my life. I recognize that God has given me this gift, and my desire is to use it in a way that helps others express themselves, learn, and grow.

In 1990 I graduated from Calvin College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Fine Art (BFA), and a Master’s Degree in Art Therapy (MPS) from Pratt Institute in 1993. I continued my education to obtain K-12 teaching certifications in art and guidance counseling in NJ and Florida, and am a Board Certified Art Therapist with the American Art Therapy Association. Throughout this time I’ve worked with all ages in a variety of settings which include nursing homes, psychiatric hospitals, drug and alcohol rehabs, schools, and community art centers. Currently, I teach art classes at the Adult and Community Enrichment (ACE) program at Suncoast Technical College in Sarasota Florida. I also facilitate a weekly art therapy group at The Senior Friendship Center in Venice.

Our mission is to provide art-making experiences that foster community and increase physiological and emotional well-being.
