This class will focus on creating a variety of hand painted papers using a gelli plate, stencils, stamps and other mark making tools. We will gather inspiration from contemporary artists, and embark on a mission to create solid and transparent papers to use in your abstract artwork. Project ideas to use your handmade papers will also be explored.
Students must bring their own gelli plate and brayer to 1st class. A variety of paper will be available for students to use in class.
Supplies: Gelli Plate (5”x7” or 8”x10”); rubber brayer; a few plastic stencils; acrylic paint (whatever colors you have); paint brushes; pad of palette paper; small disposable aluminum pan (to clean brayers); pack of baby wipes.
